I’m Gavin Petersen and I was a member of the Queensland (Australian State) Police Service for 30 years. During my career I worked in the regional cities of Townsville and Cairns, country towns of Mareeba and Atherton, and Indigenous Aboriginal communities of Palm Island, Aurukun and Pormpuraaw. I have performed duty as the Officer in Charge at number of these locations. I also performed the role of Regional Liaison Officer to the Northern Coroner for Queensland for over five years. .
I have had extensive experience across the diverse breadth of policing and the complexities of human nature that entails. In this respect there is no greater responsibility in policing than investigating the death or disappearance of someone else’s loved-ones.
The best accolade I can give to Trakalarm is ‘why hasn’t someone thought of this before?’ The wide adoption of Trakalarm in our communities will definitely give perpetrators of violence pause enough that many offences will be prevented. To those immune to the concept of respect for others it will provide an indispensable tool to police investigators.
