Trakalarm is proud to have Michelle Torrens as a shareholder as a law enforcement specialist who has a Graduate Diploma in Legal Justice.
Early in her long and distinguished career, Michelle worked in Border Force for Australian Customs. It was a natural progression to then work with the National Crime Authority as a Senior Analyst and Manager in their Intelligence Unit, where she successfully identified and targeted Organised Crime Groups.
Michelle then became a Strategic Analyst with Australian Customs Service which led teams to develop intelligence on overseas crime groups as well as identified targets purchasing firearm parts from overseas over the internet. While working for Australian Customs, Michelle also participated in the Women in Law Enforcement Strategy Mentoring Program to mentor other analysts.
This solid law enforcement career led Michelle to work for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in the Cairns regional office for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and the Cairns Indigenous Coordination Centre. Michelle participated in many steering committees for the PMC including Kids Living Safer Lives, Indigenous Economic Development Steering Committees and the Cairns Safer Streets Taskforce.
Michelle has also worked for the Australian Bureau of Statistics to lead a small team in North Queensland to collect census data.
Other notable roles Michelle has held have largely been to make lives better for our Indigenous population and in this role has worked helping them with business planning and grant writing and providing a voice for school students.
Currently, Michelle works at the Sun Pacific College to assist with Japanese students studying in Australia and counselling students on the dangers of drinking, using Cannabis and unruly behaviour.
Trakalarm is very fortunate to have Michelle as a shareholder as she is an exceptional communicator, innovative problem-solver and a natural leader with the ability to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders. A tactful networker, with extensive experience helping some of Australia’s most vulnerable communities, Trakalarm will benefit from Michelle’s high energy and self-motivation to help spread our message to the world.
